Laguna Beach, California, is host to the Pageant of the Masters living art show, which is held annually. In 2017 the 500 volunteers who man this show will perform nightly at 8:30 p.m. from July 7 through August 31. If you haven’t seen this artistic tribute to the Masters’ paintings, you are missing one of the best art shows in the nation. The paintings you think you see in this outdoor venue aren’t really paintings at all. Each of the Masters’ reincarnations is actually populated by people who are standing very still. What you see is what looks like a well-known painting, but if you wait just 90 seconds, someone will give a signal, and the painting will start to move. Tickets go fast. Call early to reserve a seat (800-487-3378). There are no discounts for seniors and kids under four are not admitted.
